THE AMERICAN Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC) has announced, new for 2015, a partnership with the Rocky Mountaineer luxury train and the very grand steamboat the American Empress.

The partnership will see the companies market an extraordinary eighteen day itinerary that starts in Calgary, Canada and finishes in Clarkson, Washington state, USA with many special extras included – even a helicopter tour over the Rockies.
The trip combines the magnificent scenery of Canada’s Rocky Mountains with the dramatic, changeable scenery of the US states of Oregon and Washington, through which the rivers Columbia and Snake flow – the lands famous American explorers Lewis and Clark travelled in 1804.

The train takes the Coastal Passage through the mountains from Banff, Alberta to Kamloops, British Columbia and then on to Vancouver, British Columbia, clearing US immigration in Seattle. Then onwards to Vancouver, Washington (over the water from Portland) where passengers board the elegant American Empress making calls at Astoria and The Dalles, Oregon; Tri-Cities and Clarkston, Washington amongst others. The American Empress measures 360 feet with five decks and accommodates 223 guests in seven stateroom categories

The itinerary also includes luxury hotels in Calgary, Alberta; Louise, Alberta and Banff, Alberta; pre cruise nights in Portland, Oregon and two nights post-cruise at the famous Davenport Hotel in Spokane.
As well as flights from London, the three day Rock Mountaineer train and the helicopter flight, the incredible package also includes 6 nights accommodation and some meals in Canada, all transfers in Canada and USA, pre-cruise stay in luxury hotel with breakfast in Portland, two nights post cruise stay at famous Davenport hotel with breakfast in Spokane. The seven night cruise on board the American Empress, including all meals, drinks with dinner (wine and beer), complimentary coffees, bottles water and soft drinks. On board ‘showboat’ entertainment each evening and daily lectures from the resident Riverlorians plus two American Empress Premium Excursions and complimentary shore excursions in each port.

The American Queen Steamboat company owns two riverboats.
The American Queen is the largest riverboat in the world featuring voyages along the Mississippi River and its tributaries. Built in 1995 with every modern convenience and refreshed in 2012 the American Queen is modelled after the steamboats of yesteryear with an authentic steam-powered paddlewheel, broad shaded decks and an abundance of filigree, fretwork, antique furniture, stained glass and mahogany panelling. A choice of itineraries take the passengers back to a slower pace of life on themed voyages that include the Civil War, Mardi Gras, Blues & Barbecue, Dixie Fest, Southern Culture, Louisiana History and Culture, Gardens of the River, Great Steamboat Era and an Elvis tribute cruise, which includes a visit to Graceland. Her main ports of embark and disembarkation are New Orleans, Memphis, St Louis, St Paul, Pittsburgh and Chattanooga, with other iconic destinations visited including Baton Rouge, Cincinnati, Louisville, Winona and Savannah.

The boat measures 360 ft with five towering decks and accommodates 223 guests in seven stateroom categories. The American Empress will sail the Columbia River and Snake River, offering seven-day voyages between Portland, Ore. And Clarkston, Washington.
