AIRLINES

Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has launched its latest ‘Complimentary Nights’ promotion offering free stopovers at selected luxury hotels in downtown Abu Dhabi, Yas Island or Dubai, to premium passengers travelling to or transiting through its hub in Abu Dhabi. The promotion is available through Etihad’s global network of travel agents, trade partners and online bookers, and offers special packages according to class of travel and point of origin. Hainan Airlines to start Shenzhen-Calcutta-Shenzhen services. Calcutta will have a second direct flight to mainland China next month, when Hainan Airlines starts its service to Shenzhen in the southern province of Guangdong.

Operations start before June 30 with three flights a week from Calcutta to Shenzhen, for the time being. The flight will leave Calcutta at 14.15hrs  on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and reach Shenzhen at 20.25hrs (local time). From Shenzhen, the flight will leave on the same days at 11.40hrs (local time) and touchdown in Calcutta at 13.00hrs.

From its Beijing hub, Hainan Airlines offers connections to Brussels, Budapest, Berlin and Zurich in Europe and to Seattle and Toronto in North America.




RAIL

Senior Inca Rail, the newest train operating company to Machu Picchu has inaugurated a new and exclusive service to the Lost City of the Incas. The train consists of a charter-style railroad car, seating up eight people, offering maximum comfort to travellers who will be able to enjoy the views from the main salon, dining tables and bar. FERRIES

P&O Ferries is offering bargain three-day fares from just £39 return for a car and passengers to coincide with one of France’s biggest and best music festivals.

Some of the world’s top bands will descend on Arras from 1 to 3 July for a three-day festival in the town’s historic main square. The line-up includes Coldplay, the Chemical Brothers, Kaiser Chiefs, PJ Harvey and Linkin Park along with a host of breakthrough French acts.

Festival-goers can load up their cars with camping equipment and up to nine of their friends and hop on a ferry from Dover to Calais for the event. The special fares are valid for bookings made before 1 June for travel until 17 July.
